A large flat garden initially in need of more interest and colour. Design incorporated a large patio and entertaining area with a water feature. Brick has been used for detailing, which also ties in nicely with materials used on house construction.
The owners are keen gardeners and consequently have added their own requirements in the form of bulb planting for spring colour and the “Cloud Tree” in the patio area.
All the retaining walls are now clothed with ivies and other climbers, to reduce the stark appearance of the gritstone. The “Cloud Tree” is a strong element and therefore needed to work within the overall design. Because there is such a large patio expanse of flags, the tree makes an ideal point of interest and breaks the area up well.
